Established in 2006, Key Turn Project (KTP) upholds the mission to support contemporary dance by creating and presenting high quality works of art to the public. KTP is unique in presenting the new work of several local choreographers in each concert, committing to collaborate with artists of other mediums and participating in a variety of performance events. KTP collaborates with musicians for original musical accompaniment, artists to draw posters for advertisements, designers to build costumes, set lights and photographers to document each event. KTP has presented four evening-length concerts in Portland, and has participated in local performances such as Ten Tiny Dances, the Alembic Series at Performance Works North West, provided entertainment for Junk to Funk "Trashion Show" and performed with Reggaetronic band "Everyday Prophets." KTP was a subject for the photography exhibit "Slide Luck Pot Show" with select photos hanging in City Hall, September 2008. In addition to performing, KTP offers modern dance technique classes taught by company members and holds open rehearsals. In only three years, six choreographers, fifteen dancers, eighteen musicians, handfuls of graphic artists, costume designers, theater technicians, dozens of students and hundreds of patrons have benefited from their involvement and support of Key Turn Project. Key Turn Project has become a name that is recognized by the dance community in Portland. It is important that dance organizations such as KTP continue to receive support, especially in Portland. Young artists and organizations have a strong impact on the development of arts communities. KTP has strong member support and enthusiasm from all collaborators and patrons. With your support, Key Turn Project can continue to grow, and provide work opportunities for professional dancers and quality dance education and performance to the public for years to come. |
